Adult Chemical
Dependency Program
About our
Program
The professionals at
Acadiana Addiction Center have provided quality Chemical Dependency
Treatment for more than 20 years in the Lafayette area. Acadiana
Addiction Center offers care for male and female adults faced with the
challenges of alcoholism and drug dependencies.
An experienced and
appropriately credentialed treatment team includes addictionists,
psychiatrists, psychologists, certified substance abuse counselors,
psychiatric social workers, psychiatric technicians, occupational
therapists, nurses.
The staff has years
of personal experience with recovery and treatment of addictions along
with treatment for patients afflicted with coexisting psychiatric
disorders. We believe that addiction is a primary drive that must be
managed through education, cognitive restructuring, emotive therapies,
and the experience of learning to live addiction free. Each of these
processes helps the patient unearth the issues that drive their
addiction and learn how to halt the addictive response. In doing so,
they begin to recover from the shame that surrounds their illness, and
learn how to relate to self and others in healthier ways.
Before admission to
any of the Addiction programs, patients undergo a comprehensive
assessment of their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and
family needs to determine the most appropriate level of care. After
the assessment, the patient will be placed in the level of care most
appropriate for their needs.
Experienced and
appropriately credentialed treatment team, led by the attending
addictionologist or psychiatrist, then develops an individual
treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to review each
patient's progress and to update treatment goals. A clinical case
manager, assigned upon admission, works closely with each patient and
their families to ensure that the treatment plan is meeting his or her
changing needs.
